Smile-Hub is a modern dental practice, situated in Port Elizabeth, leading the way in excellent dental care.
Our General Dentistry Services Include the Following Treatments And Procedures:
A general examination is recommended every 6 months. We offer a comprehensive general examination which includes two x-rays and a thorough oral examination, to assess your dental needs. During the consultation thereafter, we will recommend the best treatment plan for you and schedule a follow-up appointment if required.
Scaling and Polishing is a procedure done to remove plaque build-up that may develop even when exercising good oral hygiene, and occurs especially in areas that are difficult to reach in routine tooth-brushing. This provides additional protection for teeth, preventing disease-causing bacteria. The procedure also reveals smooth-feeling, shinier teeth.
A tooth extraction is the complete removal of a tooth, from the part of the tooth that you can see to the roots. While preserving the tooth is the ideal option, a tooth extraction may sometimes be necessary. An extraction is done in cases of severe or irreversible damage of a tooth. It may also be done to correct or prevent over-crowding.
Repairs damage caused to the tooth, by decay and prevents bacteria from entering in.
We offer two types of fillings:
This treatment is done to treat an infection that affects the nerve tissue inside the tooth. A root canal treatment prevents a dental abscess from forming in the gums and helps save the tooth.
A third set of molars sets in between the ages of 17 to 25 and can sometimes become an issue. When necessary, wisdom teeth are removed, as they may cause pain or an infection. In some cases, they may also affect one’s bite or one’s jaw may simply not be big enough to accommodate them.
A dental crown is a covering that fits over the tooth partially or completely, depending on the amount of damage or decay. They strengthen damaged teeth to allow them to function normally again. The procedure is done over a series of multiple appointments.
These are artificial teeth and gums that are formed to fit your mouth. They are used to replace natural teeth that have been lost or removed. Dentures is a viable solution to replace infected teeth, that could be causing severe pain and discomfort.
A thin covering over the surface of the tooth, made from porcelain. A veneer can be used to improve the aesthetics of one’s teeth and protect the surface of the tooth from damage.
A dental implant is a long-lasting procedure used to replace any missing or lost teeth. The procedure makes use of a screw-shaped titanium post to replace the root of the tooth, over which a crown is placed to match the other teeth.
Teeth whitening is usually done to brighten one’s smile, for aesthetic purposes. The procedure not only lightens the shade of the teeth but can also protect the tooth.
We offer two types of whitening procedures:
A general examination is always a good starting point. At our surgery, we offer a comprehensive examination which includes 2 x-rays and a full-mouth assessment. The consultation thereafter will include a proposed treatment plan, specific to your needs. We recommend having one done every 6 months. This examination is covered by most medical aid schemes.
That depends on your medical aid provider and the treatment in question. Due to the many medical aid providers and options, as well as their scheme rules, we only know once we’ve contacted your medical aid provider and checked your available benefits. We do this a day before your appointment and contact you to inform you of any co-payments, prior to your visit.
Due to the complexity of this procedure, it is important to us that we establish whether or not the patient is a good candidate for dental implants, to ensure best results. We recommend an initial in-room examination which includes a basic consultation and two x-rays. We will then be able to better answer any questions, specific to the patient, and provide more information regarding possible treatment options.
